Rainy day at Kylemore Abbey, Connemara, Ireland
Sitting on the edge of a lake, surrounded by mountains and forests, Kylemore Abbey is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the west of Ireland. Now a Benedictine monastery, the 70 room 40,000 square feet castle was built in the 1860s by a wealthy businessman as a present for his wife. The castle looked kind of bleak in the rain and I was more interested in the two typical clinker-built rowing punts anyway that gave a nice contrast to the brilliant green lake shore.
